The Citadel Places 27 on SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference Team

Spartanburg, S.C. – A total of 27 cadet-student-athletes representing all five Citadel fall sports have earned spots on the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference team, the league office announced on Friday.

Football led the way with eight qualifying athletes followed by volleyball and soccer (six each), men’s cross country (four) and women’s cross country (three). Sophomore soccer player Grace Raines was one of 15 student-athletes in the SoCon to make the list with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the fall semester, participate in at least 50 percent of their team’s events and successfully complete at least 24 credit hours over the previous two semesters.

A total of 303 student-athletes from the 12 SoCon institutions earned a spot on the team. Women’s soccer had the most academic all-conference members with 80 followed by football with 58 and women’s cross country with 51.
