CHARLESTON, S.C. – Citadel two-sport cadet athleteÂ
Charles Braddock was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First-Team for District IV as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (
CoSIDA).
To receive All-District recognition, student-athletes were required to be a key starter or reserve, uphold a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 and be of at least sophomore standing at their current institution.
"Will is a very smart kid and we are very fortunate to have had his leadership over the past four years," said head coach
Jody Huddleston. "He was always willing to help out in any way that he could and as a coach those are the ones you want to keep."
He becomes the twenty-ninth cadet athlete in Citadel athletics history to earn the honor and the first track and field/cross country runner ever named. Braddock, a member of the Honors Program, has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA his entire career as a Bulldog while majoring in electrical engineering. He has been named to the
SoCon Academic Honor Roll in each of his years at The Citadel as well as having earned eight gold stars as a cadet. Gold Stars are awarded to those students on the Dean's List who have made a grade-point average of 3.7 GPA or higher for work in a semester.
Hailing from Columbia, S.C, Braddock competed in eight track and field meets in his final campaign, racking up three top-10 finishes. He also competed in every cross country meet for the Bulldogs, recording a season-high
14th-place finish in the Will Wilson Invitational.
Braddock will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced early June.
