Bulldogs Back in Action Wednesday Against Winthrop

Charleston, S.C. – Coming off a 2-1 opening weekend, The Citadel returns to the diamond Wednesday night to take on Winthrop at Riley Park at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs defeated George Mason and Kansas State before losing to High Point in the Homewood Suites Tournament presented by Charleston Crab House. Winthrop split a pair of games against Maryland-Eastern Shore.

A pair of freshman right handers will start on the mound with Austin Livingston going for The Citadel and Joey Strain getting the call for the Eagles. Both pitchers made their collegiate debuts on Sunday. Livingston walked one and struck out one in one-third of an inning against High Point.

Strain took the loss against UMES, working 1 2/3 innings and giving up one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

The game marks the first of two between the teams this season with the second game taking place on March 5 in Rock Hill. Following Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season with a three-game set at North Florida Friday through Sunday.
