The Citadel and CSU Open Series Friday at Riley Park with First Pitch at 4 p.m.

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel and Charleston Southern will play a rare three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 4 p.m. when the city rivals meet at Riley Park. The time is a change from the original 6 p.m. due to the threat of rain later in the evening.

The series continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. at CSU Ballpark and wraps up back at Riley Park on Sunday at 1 p.m. The times for the final two games are subject to change depending on the weather.

This is the first time the teams are playing a three-game set since 2005 when CSU took two of three at Riley Park, the last time the Bucs won at The Citadel's home park. On the other hand, the Bulldogs have lost in three of their last four trips to Ladson.

The Citadel (14-9) will be looking to even the season series on Friday, having dropping an 8-6 decision at CSU (8-14) on Feb. 27. In that game the Bucs scored six runs in the first and built an early 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored a run in the fourth, four in the sixth and another in the seventh to pull within 7-6 before the rally fell short.

The Citadel will also be looking to win for the first time in its week of games against three of its biggest rivals. The Bulldogs lost to South Carolina on Tuesday at Riley Park and at College of Charleston the following day, with their two-game skid coming on the heels of a run that saw The Citadel win nine of 11 to move a season-high seven games over .500.

Fred Jordan owns a record of 34-19 against CSU since becoming head coach at The Citadel in 1992, including a mark of 17-7 at Riley Park.

Following the weekend series, the Bulldogs will leave the state of South Carolina for the first time in over a month when they travel to Atlanta for a Tuesday game against Georgia Tech. The Citadel last played a game outside the Palmetto State on Feb. 24 at North Florida.

The Bulldogs resume Southern Conference play on Mar. 29-31 with a three-game series at Western Carolina. Entering this weekend's action, The Citadel and Western are tied for second in the SoCon with 4-2 league records, one game behind Georgia Southern.
