Former Citadel wide receiver and kick return specialist Kevin Hardy has inked a free agent deal with the New Orleans Saints.
Hardy played four seasons for the Bulldogs and saw action in 40 games, including all 33 the past three years. As a senior last fall, the Ocala, Fla., native ranked sixth in the Southern Conference with an average of 24.4 yards per kickoff return while also making four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown and rushing six times for 101 yards. His 716 all-purpose yards were the second most on the team.
As a sophomore in 2009, Hardy caught 14 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown while also averaging 21.7 per kickoff return.
Hardy earned an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., returning two kickoffs for 41 yards and making one reception for six yards.
Hardy also starred on The Citadel track and field team, winning the SoCon indoor and outdoor long jump titles in 2009 and repeating as the indoor champion in 2010. At the conference outdoor meet in April 2010, he finished third in the long jump.
