Janeil Jenkins Highlight Video
Charleston, S.C.— On Friday, Citadel Basketball Head Coach Chuck Driesell announced the third member of his 2012 class with the signing of point guard Janeil Jenkins to a National Letter of Intent. The 5-foot-10 point guard, who hails from Jacksonville Fla. guided The Miller School to a combined 37 victories over the last two seasons, including a 20-10 record this season.
"We're excited to add a player of Janeil's caliber to our program," said Driesell. "For the past two years, while at The Miller School under head coach Scott Williard, he's competed against the nation's best teams and players. This will certainly benefit Janeil as well as The Citadel in the fall when we begin play."
Jenkins scored 244 points and dished out 43 assists in his junior season with the Mavericks. Among his standout performances were three 20-point games including 26, 25 and 21 points. In 2011-12, he scored 218 points, including 10 double-figure contests, as a senior. The Bulldogs can also rely on Jenkins defensive prowess, as he combined for 56 steals the last two seasons.
"Janeil has demonstrated the ability to handle the ball and become an explosive guard with tremendous court vision," Driesell added. "I am even more confident that he will be successful in all phases of his cadet-student-athlete life here at The Citadel."
