Charleston, S.C. – Citadel basketball head coach Chuck Driesell announced the addition of Patrick Rogers as director of basketball operations on Friday. Rogers replaces Matt Scherbenske, who earlier this week accepted the video coordinator position at the University of California.
Originally from Providence, R.I., Rogers joins The Citadel staff after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Providence College men's basketball program under the direction of head coach Ed Cooley.
Among Rogers' primary responsibilities were editing practice and game film for scouting purposes, coordinating film exchange, directing on-campus recruiting and working with Providence's 40+ team camps.
Prior to joining the Friars, Rogers served as the senior manager for personnel for Notre Dame basketball. He controlled all travel arrangements and expenses for the Fighting Irish as well as coordinating recruiting events at all home football games. Under Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey, Rogers maintained recruiting databases and observed individual workouts and conditioning sessions.
"I feel very fortunate to have picked up a coach this late of Pat's caliber," said Driesell. "He comes highly recommended by some well-respected and successful coaches from both Notre Dame and Providence. His work ethic and understanding of the game will serve him well in his first season with the Bulldogs. I am confident he is going to do a great job as he has already hit the ground running in his first week of work."
Rogers graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Notre Dame. He completed his master's in business from Providence in May 2012.
