Horgan Named College Sports Madness SoCon Player of the Week
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's P.J. Horgan has been named College Sports Madness' Southern Conference Player of the Week. Horgan averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week as the Bulldogs garnered victories over Wofford and Furman in the same season for the first time since 2005-06.
It marks the second time this season that a Bulldog has captured SoCon Player of the Week honors from College Sports Madness. Earlier this season, Mike Groselle earned the award after averaging 19.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in 2012 All-Military Classic.
The sophomore forward recorded his first career double-double when he scored 15 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 69-63 victory over Wofford las Thursday. Two days later, in a tilt with Furman, Horgan notched a team-high 23 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Against the Paladins he finished 9-of-13 from the field, knocking down all six attempts in the second half, to highlight a Citadel lineup that hit an incendiary 71.4 percent from the floor after the intermission to rally the Bulldogs from a 16-point halftime deficit for an 84-79 victory.
For the week, the Rio Rancho, N.M., native shot 68.2 percent from the field (15-22) and converted 9-of-12 (75%) from the free throw line.
