Bulldogs Travel to Hilton Head for Spring Break Trip

Charleston, S.C.  – The Citadel tennis team will travel to Hilton Head, S.C., to play in a doubleheader on Monday against two non-conference schools. The Bulldogs will take on first-time opponents Wisconsin-Whitewater at 10 a.m., and Oberlin at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs had some standout performances this season. David Orces has earned 10 wins on the season and has won seven consecutive matches, and Peter Bleach has also hit a hot-streak with a two-match winning streak. Elliott Sperr is second in victories for the Bulldogs with eight wins on the year and the first-time doubles duo of Dillon Berkabile and Bleach earned a victory last weekend.

Wisconsin-Whitewater

The Warhawks are ranked 26th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll and have posted a 9-4 record on the season. Wisconsin-Whitewater is a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The team is led by Byron Balkin, Andy McGlashen and Mitch Osborne. All three players have tallied nine wins on the season. In doubles play the duo of Balkin and Osborne have netted a record of 10-5 in the No. 1 position for the Warhawks and close behind is the tandem of Andrew Bayliss and McGlashen who have accumulated a 9-2 overall record.

Oberlin

The Yeomen, members of the North Coast Athletic Conference, have earned a 6-6 record on the season and will take on DePauw Monday morning at 8:30 before facing off with the Bulldogs. Coming into the spring break tournament, Oberlin is on a two-match winning streak having defeated Grove City and John Carroll by scores of 7-2. With 10 wins on the season, Joe Leffler leads the Yeomen in singles wins, and in doubles the pair of Logan Chun and Ben Turchin have earned a 10-4 record in the No. 2 spot.
