Bulldogs vs. Paladins
The Citadel has never defeated Furman, as the Paladins own a 21-0 all-time series advantage. The teams meet twice last season, and in the first meeting Furman blanked the Bulldogs to earn the Paladins' first win of the season. The second showdown came in the first round of the SoCon Tennis Championships. The No. 11 seed Bulldogs dropped a 4-1 decision to the No. 6 seed Paladins. The Paladins, 7-12 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Conference, are currently on a three-match winning streak having defeated Georgia Southern, Elon and Davidson. The team is led by junior Andrew Mellow. In the top spot for Furman, Mellow is 9-9 this season and 3-3 in league play. The St. Louis, Mo., native was awarded SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 27 through March 4 and is ranked 122nd nationally among all Division I players in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. In doubles the duo of Alex Christ and Joel Cook own a 5-10 record to lead all Paladins.
