Bulldogs Host Crosstown Rival College of Charleston
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team will host the College of Charleston on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Earle Tennis Center in its last home match of the regular season.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs fell to Furman 6-1 last Tuesday to drop their record to 5-15 overall and 0-8 in the SoCon. The doubles tandem of David Orces and James Atkinson in the No. 1 spot, as well as Elliott Sperr and Alex Howle in the No. 3 slot, earned wins for the Bulldogs to give The Citadel the doubles point to halt the shutout.
The Charleston Showdown
The College of Charleston holds an 18-1 all-time advantage with the Bulldogs' lone win coming in 2008 as The Citadel edged the Cougars 4-3. In their last meeting the Bulldogs fell to CofC 6-1 and the single point was earned from Orces in the No. 1 singles position as he defeated Lukas Koncilia 6-0, 6-3.
College of Charleston
The Cougars are 12-3 overall with the three loses coming against ranked opponents and 6-0 in Southern Conference play. The College of Charleston will face off against Georgia Southern Monday afternoon before taking on The Citadel. The Cougars have won their last five matches and are the only undefeated team left in the SoCon left as the regular season comes to an end this week. The team is led by sophomore Crescente Lesser who is 12-2 on the season, has won his last five matches and is currently 6-0 in league play. Mickael Trintignac and Alon Faiman also have had standout seasons with 10 dual wins. In doubles the pair of Kyle Parker and Trintignac have been playing exceptional with a 13-2 overall record and 4-2 SoCon record.
