Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team will travel to Georgia Southern on Friday to compete at the Hanner Tennis Complex at 2 p.m., in its final regular season match before the Southern Conference Tournament hosted by The Citadel -and College of Charleston on Apr. 19-22.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs fell to longtime rival College of Charleston 6-1 on Tuesday. Orces earned the lone point for The Citadel and claimed his 12th dual win and fifth conference win. In six different matches this season Orces has halted a shutout with a victory in the No. 1 spot. The Bulldogs have amassed a 5-16 overall record and 0-9 Southern Conference record.
Bulldogs vs. Eagles
The Citadel and Georgia Southern will be facing off for their 21st match since 1993. The Eagles lead the Bulldogs with a 15-5 series advantage. In the last meeting Georgia Southern defeated The Citadel 6-1. In the No. 4 singles position for the Bulldogs James Atkinson defeated Sebastian Felt 6-3, 6-2.
The Eagles are 1-19 overall and are tied with The Citadel with an 0-9 Southern Conference record. Their only win of the season came against Mercer in a 5-2 decision in the first match of the season. The team is led by freshman Andrew Dromsky with a 6-12 dual record and sophomore Marco Osorio who has won his last three matches to improve to a 5-4. In doubles the duo of Dromsky and Alain Garrido are 9-8 overall and 5-4 in the SoCon.
