Orces Tabbed First Team All-Conference by the Southern Conference Head Coaches
Spartanburg, S.C. – The Citadel tennis player David Orces was named first team all-conference by the Southern Conference on Tuesday. Postseason balloting was conducted by the league's head coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athlete.
Orces led the Bulldogs this season with a 13-6 singles dual record and went 6-4 in the Southern Conference including two conference wins to end the regular season over fellow first team honoree Mickael Trintignac from College of Charleston and Alain Garrido from Georgia Southern.
Orces went on an eight-match winning streak mid-season and defeated Samford's Zac Dunkle, the two-time SoCon Tennis Player of the Week. The Bulldog junior finished second at No. 1 singles in the Southern Conference with a .684 winning percentage, trailing only UNCG's Orcun Seyrek, the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year.
The Bulldogs concluded the regular season with a 5-17 overall record. They will enter this week's SoCon Tournament as the No. 11 seed and will face off against the No. 6 seed Elon on Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Earle Tennis Center.
