Clemson, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team concluded play at the Duckworth Fall Classic on Sunday evening. David Orces earned a third place in Flight-1 singles, Elliott Sperr earned a spot in Flight-4 back draws finals flights and the Bulldog duo finish in Flight-2 doubles over the course of the weekend.
Sperr fell to Augusta State's Max Coulomb Sunday morning in a three-set campaign for the consolation round final in Flight-4 singles. Sperr took the early lead after he claimed the first set 7-6, but couldn't hold off the strong play of Coulomb in the second set losing 7-5. Coulomb would win the tie-break with a score of 10-2 over Sperr.
In Flight-1 competition, Orces claimed third place in main draw. To add to his accomplishments during fall play, Orces claimed his 11th singles win with the conclusion of this tournament.
The Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C.
