Bulldogs Travel to Chattanooga on Sunday

Charleston, S.C.  – The Citadel tennis team will hit the road to take on Chattanooga on Sunday at 1 p.m., at the UTC Tennis Courts.

The Bulldogs (7-11, 0-8) fell to crosstown rival College of Charleston on Wednesday in a 5-2 decision. David Orces and Peter Bleach remain the frontrunners for The Citadel as both netted in victories against the Cougars to achieve their 11th singles win on the season.

Chattanooga

The Mocs will face off against Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon before hosting the Bulldogs on Sunday. Sitting in seventh place in league standings, Chattanooga holds an 8-8 overall record while 3-4 in the SoCon.

At 7-5 in dual matches on the season and 5-2 in the conference, Manuel Barroetavena leads the team in singles. The Mocs' senior was named the Southern Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played through Feb. 10.  

In doubles the duo of Barroetavena and Jackson Tresnan has dominated in the SoCon with a 6-1 record. The Mocs duo is 10-3 in dual play.

The Dogs were edged by UTC last season in a 4-3 loss at the Earle Tennis Center. Orces, Bleach and Elliott Sperr claimed individual victories.
