The Citadel Rifle Claims Victory in NCAA and SEARC Competitions
Charleston, S.C.- The Citadel Rifle claimed another impressive victory, winning both the NCAA and Southeastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) competitions hosted at The Citadel Marksmanship Center on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated N.C. State for the second time this season.
The Citadel concluded the SEARC 2 competition with a score of 2286, topping second place opponent N.C. State who fell 20 points behind the Bulldogs with 2266. North Georgia College and State University completed the SEARC top three with a score of 2218. Clemson came in fourth shooting a 2208, followed by Wofford with a 2152. Mercer and Georgia Military College rounded out the scoring with an 1806 and 1769, respectively.
In the NCAA competition, The Citadel men's team claimed first place with a score of 2278, ahead of N.C. State, who finished second with a 2266. The Citadel women's team finished third, topping both Wofford (2152) and Mercer (1806) with a score of 2207.
Leading the Bulldogs were shooters Stephen Kinn, who shot a 578 for the men, and Julia McCullohs, who led the women with a 573. NC State's Will Teller topped all shooters for the day with a 581.
