McCullohs, Kinn Lead Bulldogs Rifle vs. University of Alaska-Fairbanks
Charleston, S.C.- The Citadel Rifle team suffered their first loss of the season to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks on Tuesday at The Citadel Marksmanship Center. The head-to-head competition between the two schools is the second in three years.
The shooters from Alaska took the match honors with an aggregate score of 4,653, shooting 2,314 in the smallbore and 2,339 in the Air Rifle. The Citadel Men's team, led by shooters Stephen Kinn and Winston Dorian, finished with a total score of 4,415, firing a 2,151 in smallbore and 2,264 in Air Rifle. The women's team, led by Julia McCullohs, ended the competition with a total score of 4,144, tallying 1,956 in smallbore and 2,188 in air rifle.
The top shooter of the match was UAF's Cole Bures who shot a 590 in the air rifle. The Citadel's top shooter, Stephen Kinn, fired an impressive 576, while Winston Dorian led the smallbore with 556. Julia McCullohs lead the women in both events tallying a score of 564 in air rifle and 509 in smallbore.
The Citadel Rifle team returns to action in Anniston, Ala. this weekend to compete in the third Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season, followed by a home competition against Texas Christian University, the 2009-10 National Champions, which will be held on Saturday, November 13.
