Bulldog Rifle Will Continue Their Quest for the SEARC Title This Weekend
Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Rifle team will take their undefeated Southeastern Air Rifle Conference record to Milledgeville, Ga. on Saturday to compete in the fifth SEARC tournament of the season.
The Bulldogs have been the best team in the conference this season, taking first place in all three competitions that they have competed in. The Citadel Rifle team did not compete in SEARC 4 due to an open NCAA match that pitted them against the 2009-10 National Champion TCU Horned Frogs on Nov. 13, 2010.
Senior Stephen Kinn and sophomores Winston Dorian and Thomas Kersey have been the statistical leaders for the men's team this season. Senior captain Alison Hayes and sophomores Terri Craig and Julia McCullohs have continued to lead the women's team in scoring all year.
McCullohs is coming off an impressive 571 air rifle score last weekend in an open NCAA match against Army and NC State held at The Citadel Marksmanship Center. Senior captain Joseph Trippi carded a 553 in air rifle last weekend, placing him third amongst his teammates.
This weekend's match will mark the fifth time this season that the Bulldogs will take on the Wolfpack, the second place team in the SEARC. Augusta State, Birmingham Southern, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Mercer, North Georgia College and State University and Wofford are also members of the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference, as well as Georgia Military College, the host of this weekend's contest.
