Bulldog Rifle Wins SEARC 5 to Remain Perfect In Conference Play
Milledgeville, Ga. - The Citadel Rifle team fired a 2258 to take first place in the fifth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference competition of the season on Saturday at Georgia Military College to remain undefeated and atop the conference standings.
Sophomores Winston Dorian and Stephen Kinn led all Bulldog shooters carding impressive scores of 573 and 570, while senior captain Joseph Trippi followed with a 558. Senior captain Alison Hayes led the women, firing a 557, while sophomore Julia McCullohs followed just six points behind her teammate with a 551. Sophomore Julie O'Meara and freshman Julie Thomas carded personal best scores in the competition finishing with a 543 and 542.
Clemson and North Georgia College and State University finished the competition tied for third place with Georgia Military College and Mercer following closely behind. The first place finish for the Cadets is their fifth straight in SEARC competition dating back to last season.
The Bulldogs will compete against the United States Air Force Academy at The Citadel Marksmanship Center next weekend in an open NCAA match before returning back to conference play to defend their undefeated record on Feb. 12-13 for SEARC 6 sectionals.
