Bulldog Rifle Prepares for Two-Day NCAA Competition This Weekend at The Citadel Marksmanship Center

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Rifle team is set to compete in their final NCAA open match of the season on Saturday and Sunday at The Citadel Marksmanship Center, shooting in two separate competitions against The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA).

"The team is coming off one of their best weeks of practice of the season, everyone shot well all week, with a few firing their personal bests in the practice range," Coach William Smith said.

The Bulldogs are having one of their most successful seasons under Coach Bill Smith, who is finishing up his 11th year as The Citadel's head rifle coach. The rifle team is undefeated in the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference, with the men and women shooting their way to the top of the SEARC standings with only two conference competitions remaining. The two NCAA matches this weekend will be the fifth and sixth of the season for the Cadets as they will face yet another top opponent in the Air Force Academy.

The men and women will shoot both small bore and air rifle this weekend to prepare the Bulldogs for the NCAA Sectionals, which will be held at The Citadel Marksmanship Center on Feb. 12-13.
