McCullohs, Dorian Lead Bulldogs in Weekend Series Against the Air Force Academy

Charleston, S.C. – Sophomore Winston Dorian shot personal bests in both small bore (569) and air rifle (582) this weekend to lead all Bulldog shooters in a weekend series against The United State Air Force Academy where the Bulldogs placed second.

Saturdays competition saw the Bulldog men finish the day with an aggregate team score of 4462 (2182 in smallbore and 2280 in air rifle), 145 points behind the USAFA who fired a team total 4607 (2269 in smallbore and 2338 air rifle).

Sunday’s rematch saw the same result with the Cadets falling short to the Falcons again. The USAFA fired an impressive team score of 4633 (2269 in smallbore and 2337 in air rifle) with the Bulldogs trailing 243 points behind with a 4390 (2144 in smallbore and 2246 in air rifle).

Sophomore Winston Dorian lead the Bulldogs in all categories on both days, while sophomore Julia McCullohs fired impressive two-day scores, leading her team in both smallbore (523, 510) and air rifle (566, 577).

Air Force’s Rob Vasquez led all shooters in air rifle carding a 588, while Tom Chandler led all smallbore shooters firing a 575.

The Bulldogs will have a week off before returning to conference action to defend their undefeated record in SEARC 6 on Feb. 12-13 in Charleston, S.C. The weekend competition, hosted by The Citadel, will also include the NCAA Sectional matches for smallbore and air rifle. This will be the seventh competition held at The Citadel Marksmanship Center, the most in one season since the state of the art rifle range opened in 2006.
