The Citadel Rifle Team Will Host UAB in an Open NCAA Match on Friday

Charleston, S.C. - On Friday the Bulldog Rifle team will host the University of Alabama at Birmingham today in The Citadel Marksmanship Center. The Bulldogs have topped the Blazers in each of their last three meetings.

The Cadets will use today's match to gain experience in preparation for the NCAA Sectionals and SEARC 6 competition to be held next weekend here at The Citadel. The teams will only shoot air rifle in the match and will not compete in smallbore competition.

Sophomore Julia McCullohs will look to continue her impressive season with the Bulldogs, firing a consistent air rifle average of 560 points per match. Fellow sophomore Winston Dorian has come on strong in the last few competitions, firing over 570 in the last 3 matches, including a personal best 582 last Saturday against the Air Force Academy.

"We've had another great week of practice, freshmen Franklin Wright and Matthew Bernard have been consistently shooting in the mid 70's all week," said Coach William Smith

Friday's competition will be the Bulldogs' final NCAA dual of the year, and their first competition against UAB this season, before the sectional finals. The Citadel Rifle team, who is undefeated in conference play, will return to action next weekend against all 10 teams in the SEARC.
