Bulldog Rifle Hits the Road for SEARC 3 in Milledgeville, Ga.
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel Rifle team will hit the road to compete in the third Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., on Saturday. The Bulldogs have taken second place in both conference matches this season.
The Citadel Rifle team was most recently downed, 2235-2222, by the University of Alabama-Birmingham in an open NCAA match held at the Daniel K. Inouye Marksmanship Center. The match featured junior shooter Terri Craig firing a season-best and team-leading 569 in the air rifle to place her second. Behind Craig for the Bulldogs was freshman shooter Robert Jackson, who recorded a 564 in just his third match of his collegiate career, and captains Kristofer Small (559) and Julia McCullohs (558) who finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
N.C. State took the crown in each of the first two conference matches of the 2011-12 season. Both of the Bulldogs' second place finishes have come down to the wire, including a 2,232-point draw with North Georgia College and State University at the end of the first competition, forcing a tie-break shootout that the Bulldogs won.
Saturday's match will showcase all 10 conference teams: Augusta State, Birmingham Southern, Clemson, Georgia Military, Georgia Tech, Mercer, N.C. State, North Georgia College and State University, The Citadel and Wofford.
