Bulldog Rifle Takes Third in SEARC 3

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel Rifle team, led by junior captain Julia McCullohs, fired a team total of 2245 on Saturday at the third Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season held at the GMC Athletic Center in Milledgeville, Ga.

McCullohs, who recorded a 567 to lead all Bulldogs for the second time this season, was backed by teammates freshman William Wutzer (561), senior captain Kristofer Small (559) and freshman Robert Jackson (558), who finished in the second, third and fourth spots for The Citadel, respectively.

Taking the crown for the third consecutive SEARC match was N.C. State University. Behind the Wolfpack was North Georgia College and State University who scored 2248, The Citadel, three points back with 2245, Clemson who fired a 2201 and host Georgia Military College with a mark of 2141.

Wolfpack marksmen Will Teller captured the individual crown, recording a mark of 578, while teammate Bryan Cross finished four points behind to take second place with a 574. Clemson shooter Erin Gotterbarm, sibling of Brandon Gotterbarm, who competed on The Citadel Rifle team the past three seasons, rounded out the top three with a tying mark of 574.

The Citadel Rifle team will be back in action next weekend as they compete in the final SEARC competition of the fall slate in Spartanburg, S.C. After the CR-4 match the Bulldogs will have two months off before returning to action in January 2012.
