Bulldog Rifle Returns Home to Face No. 5 Alaska
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel Rifle team will compete against No. 6 University of Alaska-Fairbanks on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Inouye Marksmanship Center. The Nanooks will make their annual 4,365-mile trek to Charleston to shoot air rifle and smallbore.
The Bulldogs are coming off an NCAA match against Ole Miss on Saturday, Jan. 14, in Oxford, Miss., where they were downed by the Rebels, 4638-4373. Freshman Robert Jackson and junior captain Julia McCullohs led all Bulldog air rifle shooters with a 571 and 568, respectively.
The story for the Bulldog men has continued to be the success of the freshman shooters. In Saturday's match, four of the five placing cadets were first-year marksmen. Jackson's 571 in air rifle is a personal-best in just his sixth collegiate match, placing him 12th overall, while leading his team in smallbore, firing a 550 to capture 14th place. The lone senior and captain of the men's team, Kristofer Small, fired a 517 smallbore (20th) and 561 air rifle (18th).
