Bulldog Rifle Fires a Second Place Score of 2260 in SEARC 5 Competition
Charleston, S.C. – Junior captain Julia McCullohs led all Bulldog shooters in Saturday's match with an air rifle score of 568 en route to a second place finish at the fifth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season at Inouye Marksmanship Center on Saturday. The Cadets finished with a SEARC team total of 2,260, a mere 44 points behind first place N.C. State (2,304).
The Bulldogs second place finish is their third of the season and leaves them comfortably in the same position in the conference, behind No. 20 N.C. State, with just one more SEARC match left (Feb.18, Charleston, S.C.) before The Citadel hosts the conference championships on March 3.
The freshman tandem of William Wutzer and Robert Jackson, who have led their team in all but one match this season, finished in the second (565) and fourth (563) slot for the Bulldogs, respectively, while senior captain Kristofer Small captured third with a score of 564.
Also shooting air rifle for The Citadel was Nathaniel Moy (557), Terri Craig (552), Richard Hunton (551), Joshua Anacay (548), Margaret LaRiviere (545), Julie O'Meara (544), Teddi Haliscak (535), Hunter Parrish (514), Sharnay Green (505), James Coker (496).
In NCAA small bore action, Moy recorded his personal-best score of 554, while Jackson finished right behind with a season-best small bore mark of 549.
The Bulldogs will continue their six-game home stretch on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Inouye Marksmanship Center, where they will host an NCAA open match against No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 14 Air Force, No. 20 N.C. State.
