Bulldog Rifle Continues Home Stretch with Weekend NCAA Open Match
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel Rifle team will host their third of six consecutive home matches at the Inouye Marksmanship Center on Saturday and Sunday when they face-off against the United States Air Force Academy, N.C. State and Mississippi in an NCAA Open match. Small bore and air rifle will be shot on the both days.
The Bulldogs are coming off their fifth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season last weekend, where they took second place to solidify them in that position in the conference standings behind rival N.C. State.
This will mark the second time this season that the Cadets will take on Ole Miss as they traveled to Oxford, Miss., on Jan. 14. In that match the Bulldogs were downed by the sixth ranked Rebels, 4638-4373. Freshman Robert Jackson and junior captain Julia McCullohs led all Bulldog air rifle shooters with a 571 and 568, respectively.
The story for the Bulldog men this season continues to be the success of the freshman shooters. William Wutzer and Robert Jackson have placed among The Citadel's top four shooters in each of the eight air rifle matches this year, while Nathaniel Moy has continued to lead his team with a steady small bore score.
