Jackson Fires a 575 to Lead Bulldogs to Second Place Finish Against VMI and Nevada

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel men's rifle team fired an impressive team score of 4413 to take second place behind No. 8 Nevada (4647) on Saturday at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. The Citadel women finished in fifth place, totaling 4274 points.

Freshman Robert Jackson led the Bulldog men in both air rifle and small bore action as he carded a 575 in air rifle and a personal-best 551 in small bore. Senior captain Kristofer Small finished right behind Jackson, firing a career-best score of 573.

Freshmen Nathaniel Moy and William Wutzer shot small bore scores of 543 and 542, respectively, to capture the second and third spots for the Bulldog men.

On the women's side, junior captain Julia McCullohs posted a season-best mark of 579 in air rifle to lead all Bulldog shooters, while freshman Margaret LaRiviere carded a career-best of 562, earning the Springfield, Va., native the first letter of her young career.

Shooters earn their letters by posting a score of 560 or greater in both the small bore and air rifle competition.

The eighth-ranked Wolfpack captured the team crown with The Citadel men coming in second place. Following the Bulldog men were the men's team from VMI (4400), the VMI women (4293) and The Citadel women.

The Dogs will have a week off before hosting the NCAA Sectionals and SEARC 6 competition at the Inouye Marksmanship Center on Saturday, Feb. 18.
