Bulldog Rifle Completes Action in SEARC 6 and NCAA Sectional Competition
Charleston, S.C. – Freshman marksman Thor Wright carded a career-high air rifle mark of 578 to lead all Bulldogs in the NCAA Sectional and sixth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season held at the Inouye Marksmanship this past weekend.
The Bulldogs finished the conference competition in second place with 2,293 points behind SEARC leader NC State who posted a score of 2,336. The second place finish is the Bulldogs' fifth this season and leaves them comfortably ahead of North Georgia for second place in the standings with one match left on the schedule.
Wright's air rifle score of 578 placed him sixth overall in air rifle for the weekend and marked the first time in his young career that he has led all Citadel shooters.
In small bore action, Jackson led all Bulldog shooters, carding a 567 to earn fifth place, while Nathaniel Moy (554), Hunton (547), Wright (543) and Wutzer (540) finished closely behind.
NC State marksmen took the top four spots in the air rifle and top three in small bore as Daniel Cliff (587) and Alex Martin (575) took the individual crowns in each, respectively.
The Citadel rifle team will take a week off to prepare for the SEARC Championship held at the Inouye Marksmanship Center on March 2.
