Wrestling Closes SoCon Slate with Trip to Campbell
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team finishes up the Southern Conference portion of the 2011-12 schedule with a trip to Buies Creek, N.C. to face Campbell University Friday evening at 6 p.m. inside Gilbert Craig Gore Arena and the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. The Bulldogs and the Fighting Camels enter the match with identical 3-2 league records, and the dual match winner will finish third in the eight-team Southern Conference standings.
About The Bulldogs (7-8, 3-2 SoCon)
The Bulldogs enters the dual after winning a pair of SoCon matches on the road last weekend. The Citadel knocked off Gardner-Webb 36-10 and handed Davidson a 31-12 defeat. Prior to that, the Bulldogs finished third at the All-Academy Championships at Air Force on February 5. Richard Alarcon (125) and Odie Delaney (285) captured titles, while Turtogtokh Luvsandorj (174) and Kelby Smith (197) each finished in second place. Delaney is ranked No. 15 in the latest InterMat rankings.
About Campbell (11-16, 3-2 SoCon)
Campbell enters the contest on a two-match losing streak after dropping dual meets to Northwestern and North Carolina on Saturday. The Fighting Camels fell to Northwestern 32-5 and lost to North Carolina 31-10. John Weakley has gone 24-8 this season with seven pins, one tech fall and four major decisions while wrestling in the 197-pound weight class. Weakley recorded his fastest pin in only 29 seconds over Mark Morrill of Northern Colorado on Dec. 14.

Delaney Named SoCon Wrestler of the Week
Odie Delaney was selected as the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competitions from January 11-17. Wrestling as a heavyweight, Delaney was dominant over the weekend at the Virginia Duals, notching a perfect 5-0 record with pins in three of his matches.
