Bulldog Wrestling Set to Host The Citadel Open Before Competing at Hokie Open

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team will open its 2012-13 season on Saturday at McAlister Field House when it hosts The Citadel Open. The event starts at 9 a.m. and runs all day. Admission for The Citadel Open is $5. Bulldog upperclassmen will be competing at the Hokie Open hosted by Virginia Tech on Sunday. 

Video streaming for the event will be available free of charge. The live feed will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will resume at approximately 5:50 p.m. To access the video stream go to: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/citadel.portal#.

The tournament will feature over 350 freshmen and sophomore grapplers from over 25 schools around the southeast that include Division I foes Appalachian State, Duke, Campbell, NC State, Gardner-Webb and VMI along with Division II, NAIA,  junior college and club wrestling programs.

The Bulldogs, who finished tied for second place at the Southern Conference Championships last season, will return No. 9 ranked Turtogtokh Luvsandorj and No. 10 ranked Odie Delaney. Both were most recently named to the 2012 preseason all-conference team along with senior teammate Jordan Dix.

The Citadel will return six starters from a year ago and welcomes 13 newcomers to the roster. Head coach Rob Hjerling is entering his 14th season at the helm of the Bulldogs and holds a career mark of 104-105-4 during his tenure.
