Citadel Wresting Heads to UNC Duals to Complete Regular Season against No. 24 North Carolina, Duke

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team will complete its 2012-13 regular season slate on Sunday with a double-header against No. 24 North Carolina and Duke at the UNC Duals in Carmichael Arena.

The Bulldogs will open the competition with a noon scuffle against the Blue Devils before taking on the 24th-ranked Tar Heels at 2 p.m.

The Citadel vs. Duke Series

The Blue Devils hold the 28-11-3 series lead, however the Bulldogs have taken the last seven meetings between the two schools. The Citadel has won the previous three meetings by scores of 28-14, 31-9 and 23-19, respectively.

The first meeting between the two programs dates back to the 1958-59 season when the match ended in a 16-16 tie.

The Citadel vs. North Carolina Series

The Bulldogs and Tar Heels have met 14 times dating back to the 1984-85 season with North Carolina holding the 12-2 advantage. Two of those meetings came last season when The Citadel notched a 22-15 win over UNC at the Virginia Duals before falling to the ACC foe in Charleston at The Citadel Duals, 26-12.

The Citadel lost to its only other ranked opponent this season, No. 25 Old Dominion, by a score of 26-9 at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 11.

What to Look For…

The Citadel enters Sunday's matches with an overall record of 6-5 and a Southern Conference mark of 5-2. The Bulldogs completed their conference action on Friday when they took down VMI 25-9 in Lexington, Va.

The bout of the weekend should come in the dual against North Carolina where top-10 ranked 141-pounders battle each other for the second time this season.

Carolina's No. 6 Evan Henderson will face No. 7 Ugi Khishignyam. Henderson topped Ugi in a 4-3 decision at the Nittany Lion Open earlier this season.

In the heavyweight division, Odie Delaney will look to extend his 12-match winning streak. Wins in both of his bouts will place him in a tie for second place in Citadel history with 117 wins (Travis Piccard '06).

Delaney currently holds a 32-7 record with a conference leading 15 pins.

Matt Frisch and Aaron Hansen, who closed SoCon competition with perfect 7-0 dual marks, look to continue their impressive redshirt freshmen seasons at the 133- and 157-pound weight classes, respectively.

Jordan Dix will face a rematch in each of his two bouts on Sunday when he takes on UNC's Christian Barber and Duke's Marcus Cain, while Jack Duane (174) will look to avenge a loss suffered against Duke's Trey Adamson earlier this season at the Hokie Open.
