Bulldogs in the Opening Round

Sixth-seeded Ugi Khishignyam opened his first NCAA Championship on Thursday by taking his first round bout against Lehigh's Anthony Salupo in a 6-3 decision.

Ugi will face Virginia Tech's Zach Neibert later this evening in a rematch from earlier this season when the Mongolia native earned a last second takedown and fall to capture the win over the Hokie grappler.

Delaney collected a 7-5 sudden victory win in thrilling fashion. The redshirt senior was up 4-0 with seconds left before an Evan Knutson takedown and three-point nearfall left the match knotted at five apiece after Delaney's riding time point was added.

An overtime takedown gave Delaney the 7-5 win and advanced him into the second round where he will face defending NCAA heavyweight champion Anthony Nelson of Minnesota. The two met earlier this year at the Southern Scuffle where Nelson took the 4-2 win.

Frisch battled second-seeded Derek St. John of Iowa tough as the redshirt freshman earned the first two points on a takedown to gain the early lead. St. John took over in the third period adding a couple of takedowns and a riding time point to top the Bulldog grappler, 9-3.

Frisch drops to the consolation bracket where he will face Oklahoma's Matt Lester.
