Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team will kick off the 2012 campaign this weekend with a set of road games against Charleston Southern on Friday at 4 p.m. and Winthrop on Sunday at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum from the thrilling program-first win in last season's finale over crosstown foe College of Charleston.

The Bulldogs are looking to avenge a 2-1 loss against the Bucs last season on Washington Light Infantry Field. Following a 30^th minute goal by Vanessa Aponte, Charleston Southern scored two second half  goals to down The Citadel.

Mariana Garcia put a late game goal into the back of the net to lift the Bulldogs past the Eagles in the home opener last season. The game winner was Garcia's fifth of her career, moving her into first place all time in Citadel history. The junior collected three more game winners during the 2011 campaign, giving her nine on her career.
