Charleston, S.C. – After opening up the season with two postponed contests due to inclement weather, The Citadel women's soccer team will journey 1,214 miles to officially kick off the 2012 campaign. The Bulldogs will take on Maine at 4 p.m., on Friday before heading to Bryant on Sunday for an 11 a.m. contest.

The Bulldogs earned their first of their school-record 12 wins in 2010 with a 3-1 victory over Maine. Then freshman Ruth Leiva tallied a hat trick for her first three career goals. Mariana Garcia also contributed with her first career assist. The junior is now just four assists shy of tying the school record (9).

The Citadel will head to Smithfield, R.I., to in a "Battle of the Bulldogs" match against Bryant. The Bulldogs topped Maine 2-1 in their 2012 season opener on Aug. 17.
