Bulldog Soccer Heads to Raleigh to Take On N.C. State

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel soccer team will hit the road for Raleigh, N.C., to face off against ACC foe N.C. State on Friday at 7 p.m., at Dail Soccer Stadium. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.

The Bulldogs will look to collect their first win of the season after falling to Maine and Bryant last weekend. Junior Mariana Garcia looks to keep her hot streak alive as she posted both of The Citadel's goals this season, leaving her with 19 in her career, two shy of 2011 team captain Amy Loughran who currently sits in second place all-time.

The Bogota, Colombia, native also collected four shots on the year moving her into a tie for third place all-time with 128. Teammate Vanessa Aponte is currently in second place with 139. The duo will be chasing the school record (165) held by Kelly Pesterfield.

Bulldogs vs. ACC Opponents…

The Citadel has only faced two ACC opponents in the program's 12-year history, dropping the 2011 season-opener to Clemson 1-0 and falling to then No. 5-ranked Florida State 5-0 in 2005.
