Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team will head to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop for a Wednesday evening matchup against the Eagles. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum gained from a 5-0 shutout over Northern Iowa on WLI Field on Sunday. Mariana Garcia posted two more goals, giving her four for the season, while freshmen Jannel Johnson and Kimberly Maldonado netted their first career goals.

Mariana Garcia put a late game goal into the back of the net to lift the Bulldogs past the Eagles in the home opener last season. The game winner was Garcia's fifth of her career, moving her into first place all time in Citadel history. The junior collected three more game winners during the 2011 campaign.

Garcia, Aponte Chasing History…

The dynamic tandem of Vanessa Aponte and Garcia have been chipping away at the Bulldog record books since joining the team in 2009. With her four goals on the season, Garcia has moved into a tie for second place all-time with 21 career goals. The Bogota, Colombia, native is also first all-time in game winners with 10, second all-time with 72 shots on goal and third in program history with 47 career points.

Aponte, who is tied for fifth in the conference averaging three shots per game, now has 150 in her career as she chases the school record of 165 set by Kelly Pesterfield. Aponte is also just one assist shy of tying program record holders Nicole Martinoli and Lauren Merchant.
