Bulldog Soccer Honored with NSCAA Team Academic Award

Kansas City, Kan. – The Citadel soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year on the strength of a team grade point average of 3.5 during the fall and 3.54 in the spring.

The achievement sets The Citadel apart from other teams, demonstrating its commitment to success on the field and in the classroom.

For a team to be considered for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA or junior college roster forms for the fall season.

Shanna Couch, a senior captain for the 2011-12 Bulldogs, graduated in 2012 with Top Graduate Honors from The Citadel Corps of Cadets, accumulating a 4.0 GPA in health, exercise and sport science.

Along with her honors at The Citadel, the Southern Conference selected Couch as the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship out of a pool of 37 candidates.
