Bulldog Spikers Head to Upstate for Matches with Furman, Wofford

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team continues its string of road matches this weekend when the Bulldogs head to in-state rivals Furman and Wofford.

The Cadets first take to the court against Furman on Friday evening at 6:00 before a Saturday evening clash with Wofford, set for 6 p.m.

Earlier this week, senior Rachael Farrell finished with 10 kills and added seven digs to lead The Citadel volleyball team past Savannah State by scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16.

Following Farrell and her 10 kills was Jessica Maxwell (eight kills), Ise d'Angelo (seven kills) and Bailey Kernodle (seven kills). The Bulldogs (6-24) converted 42 kills in 99 total attempts to post a .323 hitting percentage. Erin Bucherl paced The Citadel with 13 digs, while Hurt and Maxwell chipped in three assisted blocks, respectively. The Dogs offense was led by the tandem of Rachel Keefer (18 assists) and Mikaela Tracy (17 assists).

Savannah State, who suffered their second defeat to The Citadel this season, was anchored offensively by Chikia Jones' seven kills. Teammate Bridgette Stephens posted 14 digs, while Jasmine White finished with three assisted blocks. The Tigers fell to 0-30 on the season.

Furman (20-7 Overall/8-4 SoCon)

Senior Chandler Ambrester notched her fifth-straight double-double, collecting career highs with 26 kills and 23 digs, to lead the Furman volleyball team past Chattanooga, 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23), last Saturday at Alley Gymnasium in Greenville, S.C.

Jo Wilks recorded her 11th double-double of the season, tallying 52 assists and 19 digs for Furman.  Christina Dorismond added 13 kills in the win, while junior libero Elle Ross collected 17 digs.  Freshman Caitlyn Scioscia added 11 digs for the Paladins.  Caroline Adams posted a team-high five blocks, while posting eight kills.

Chattanooga was led by Sarah Batterton, who notched 13 kills.  Libero Paula Passmore led the Mocs on defense with 30 digs, while setter Bridget Camacho collected 37 assists.
 
Wofford (14-11 Overall/4-8 SoCon)

Despite opening the match with the wins in the first two sets, the Wofford volleyball team's upset bid over Samford came up short as the Terriers fell 3-2 (26-28, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-10) Sunday, Oct. 28  in a Southern Conference match in the Benjamin Johnson Arena.

Wendy Burnett and Amanda Liguori led Wofford with 13 kills each.  Burnett held a .320 hitting percentage, while Liguori collected 13 digs to earn her seventh double-double of the season.  Rachel Woodlee added 12 kills.  Burnett also set a new career-high with 20 points in the match.  She added five solo blocks, and two block assists and two block assists.  Reagan Styles collected a team-high 19 digs, while Bekah Dorsey added 46 assists.
 
Samford was led by Michaela Reesor who recorded 33 kills on 64 attempts with nine errors for a .375 hitting percentage.  Elizabeth Neisler added 16 kills.  Casey Garvey handed out 71 assists, while Alexis Bauer picked up a match-high 34 digs.
