Bulldogs Slated to Host Three Meets During 2012 Cross Country Season
Charleston, S.C. – Citadel cross country and track and field coach Jody Huddleston's 26th season at the helm will feature three home meets including the 2012 Southern Conference Championship. The Bulldogs home course for the 2012 season will be moved from James Island County Park to Laurel Hill Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
After calling James Island County Park home for the past 11 seasons, the Bulldogs will move to Charleston County Parks and Recreation's newest park, the 781-acre Laurel Hill Plantation, in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
"Laurel Hill Plantation will be a great place to host our three cross country meets this season," said Huddleston. "We are grateful to the CCPRC for all of their help and willingness to help cross country in the Lowcountry."
The team will host the Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 29, the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational on Oct. 13 and close out the season playing host to the 2012 Southern Conference Championship race on Oct. 27.
The Bulldogs will open the season on Aug. 31 at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C., before competing in the College of Charleston Invitational at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island.
On Oct. 6, the team will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the second consecutive season to compete in the Disney Classic held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex.
"It will be nice to stay around Charleston for most of the season and a trip to the Disney Invitational will be a nice treat for the team," said Huddleston.
