An assistant football coach (1960-65) who guided The Citadel’s track and field team to the 1961 and ‘62 Southern Conference championships … his ’61 team finished first in seven of 16 events, and six members of that ’61 team are in The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame … as a football coach, he led the freshman team three years and his ’63 defensive backfield helped the Bulldogs to a No. 10 national ranking in pass defense … was voted the league’s track and field coach of the year in 1961 and ’62.
