Lettered four years in football at quarterback and safety … led team to school’s then-best record in football history, 8-2, in 1959 … served as co-captain of that team which was coached by Eddie Teague … was named Most Valuable Player in the 1960 Tangerine Bowl in which Bulldogs shutout Tennessee Tech, 27-0 … paced the team in total offense and passing three consecutive years … ranks eighth on the school’s all-time passing list with 1,900 yards (122 completions and 264 attempts).
