Day One of Bulldog Invitational Complete

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel golf team completed day one at the Bulldog Invitational on Monday at Patriots Point Links. The Bulldogs are hosting their first tournament since head coach Lori Bonacci took over the program eight years ago.

The two-round tournament taking place Monday and Tuesday features 10 teams, including Lamar, Wofford, Appalachian State, Western Illinois, Drake, Navy, Radford, Siena, The Citadel and Bucknell. Through 18 holes, Lamar leads the field, carding a 7-over-par 295 as a team. The Cardinals were led by Wenny Chang, who shot a 3-under-par 69. Chang is three strokes ahead of the rest of the field heading into day two.

Senior Eraina Manor captained The Citadel on Monday and is the lone Bulldog in the top ten through 18 holes. She sits tied for eighth overall after posting a 4-over-par 76 in the first round. Manor has now carded a round in the 70s three times during the 2016 spring campaign.

Bulldog freshman Marina Grimal is in 17th place overall after the first round. She shot a 6-over-par 78 Monday, which is the second-best round of her career thus far.Â

The second and final round of the Bulldog Invitational begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. The tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony at 2 p.m. Admission to watch at Patriots Point Links is free.
