NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Citadel's Aaron Walker saw his season come to an end Thursday at the NCAA Wrestling Championships inside Madison Square Garden.
Walker, who advanced to the NCAA Championships for the third time in three seasons as a Bulldog, dropped his opening-round match in the 157-pound bracket to No. 4 seed Ian Miller from Kent State by a 9-4 decision. In the consolation round, Walker was matched up with Nebraska's Tyler Berger, who claimed a 7-4 decision.
Walker finished his season with a 28-8 overall record to bring his career victory total to 88. The junior from San Antonio, Texas, posted his second perfect dual-match season in his three years, finishing 15-0 in dual matches this season. His record this year included eight pins and six wins by major decision.
Walker is the first Bulldog to be named to the All-Southern Conference team in three consecutive seasons and one of 21 wrestlers, including three from The Citadel, in conference history to have three All-SoCon selections in a career.
