Williamson Places 15th at NCAA East Preliminary

RESULTS
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Citadel graduate senior Capers Williamson's collegiate career came to a close on Friday as he fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Williamson placed 15th overall in the javelin throw at the NCAA East Preliminary with a top heave of 214 feet, 6 inches. The senior needed to finish in the top 12 to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Friday's result concludes one of the most decorated careers in the history of The Citadel track and field program. Williamson finishes as a two-time Southern Conference champion, four-time SoCon Field Athlete of the Week and the only Bulldog to ever earn SoCon Field Athlete of the Month honors twice in the same campaign.

Williamson shattered his own school and conference records in the javelin three different times in 2016. He surpassed 230 feet on three occasions, culminating with a career-best toss of 239 feet, 4 inches at the SoCon Outdoor Championships.
