
Poole, Auten Lead Bulldogs To Victory At Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team earned eight of the top-10 aggregate individual finishes while defeating Wofford on Saturday inside the Taylor Center Range in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Bulldogs co-ed team won the competition with 4,472 points. Wofford finished second with 4,310 points, and The Citadel women's team scored 4,279 points for third place.
Junior Colton Poole took top overall honors with an aggregate score of 1,131 points. The Pelion, South Carolina, native won the smallbore competition with 551 points and finished second in air rifle with a season-best-tying 580 points. Sophomore Allison Auten finished second in the overall standings with 1,117 total points, highlighted by her victorious score of 583 points in air rifle.
Senior Patrick Meyer helped the Bulldogs sweep the top-two positions in smallbore as well with his 545 points taking second place. Junior Morgan Long secured a 1-2-3 finish for The Citadel in air rifle with his third-place, 571-point showing. Freshman Alexander McAlear finished fifth in both disciplines, courtesy of 568 points in air rifle and 540 points in smallbore.
Sophomore Brandi Duzz claimed the highest individual finish on the women's team as she placed sixth in air rifle with a score of 559 points. Junior Carli Cline posted the highest aggregate score on the team, boosted by a season-best 555 in air rifle that placed eighth in the event.
Freshman Faith Totherow led the women's team in smallbore with her eighth-place finish after scoring 527 points. Sophomore Shay Littlejohn placed ninth in the event with a season-best 523 points, and classmate Leah Fenwrick-Wallace scored 516 to take 10th in the discipline.

The Citadel is back in action next weekend when it hosts the NCAA Qualifier, the final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championships, also hosted by The Citadel, scheduled for March 4-5.
