Bulldogs Take Third At NCAA Qualifier

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team competed in the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday inside the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
Ninth-ranked North Carolina State won the team competition with 4,670 points and was followed by No. 20 North Georgia's 4,551 points. The Citadel's co-ed team scored 4,509 to claim third place, finishing ahead of Georgia Southern's 4,483 points and The Citadel women's season-best score of 4,361. UAB, which only competes in air rifle, scored 2,241 points in the event.
Sophomore Allison Auten produced the team's highest air rifle score of 580 and scored 546 in smallbore. Junior Morgan Long matched his season-best score of 580 in air rifle and added 533 points in smallbore. Freshman Alexander McAlear posted a season-high 561 to lead the team in smallbore and 569 points in air rifle. Junior Colton Poole scored 571 in air rifle and 545 in smallbore. Senior Patrick Meyer only competed in smallbore and posted the team's second-best score of 553 points. Classmate Richie Parra only contested air rifle and recorded a score of 564.
Sophomore Leah Fenwrick-Wallace topped the women's team in air rifle with her score of 569 points and added 515 in smallbore. Freshman Faith Totherow only contested the smallbore and scored a season-best 558 to post the team's highest score in the discipline. Junior Carli Cline had the team's second-highest smallbore score of 536 and also tied her season-high air rifle score of 555 set last week. Sophomore Brandi Duzz scored 556 points in air rifle and 517 in smallbore. Junior Raven Wills registered a 543 in air rifle and a 521 in smallbore. Sophomore Shay Littlejohn scored 549 in air rifle.
The Bulldogs are off next weekend before hosting the Southern Conference Championships scheduled for March 4-5.
