Bulldogs Set Multiple Personal Bests in Terrier Relays

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel track & field teams competed in the Terrier Relays hosted by Wofford College over the weekend. Several Bulldogs broke individual personal records en route to finishing in the top ten in numerous events.Â

"This was a very good meet for us," said head coach Jody Huddleston. "The team was excited to be back on the track together as a whole for the time since the indoor championships."

The men's 4x100 team of Devin Singleton, Josiah Johnson, Clarence Richardson and Malik Diggs took first place with a time of 41.49 seconds. Diggs also took second place individually in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.51. Singleton placed third in the 400m with a personal record of 48.56 to earn the number five spot all-time at The Citadel in the event.

In field events for the Bulldogs, Charles Braddock won the javelin with a mark of 177-10. Derrick Freeland took home second place in the hammer throw with a toss of 177-9. Jordan Williams took the number three spot in the long jump with a mark of 22-3. Freshman, Harrison Mansell tied with Kenya Pinckney for third place in the high jump with a leap of 6-0.75.Â

For the women, Joie Royer earned the number five spot all-time at The Citadel in the 200m with a PR time of 25.72. The 4x800 team of Casey Miller, Amber Opp, Bethany Reeves and Shona Sulzbach took third with a time of 10:53.45.

In the field, Mady Riegel won the javelin toss with a throw of 125-3. Jessy Page took second in the hammer throw with mark of 159-3 and also placed third in the discus with a mark of 140-6. Freshman, Samantha Engel set a new PR in the pole vault with 10-6 to take the number two spot all-time as a Bulldog.Â

The Bulldogs will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, this Friday, April 6 to participate in the East Carolina Quad Meet.
