Bulldog Track and Field Competes in Bill Carson Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel track and field teams competed in the Bill Carson Invitational hosted by East Carolina University over the weekend. Both teams took home fifth place in the meet.

The men's 4x100 team of Devin Singleton, Josiah Johnson, Clarence Richardson and Malik Diggs took fourth place with a time of 42.47 seconds. Diggs also took third place individually in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.61. Johnson placed second in the 100m dash with a time of 10.72. Freshman, Jeremy Shipley took third place and set a new personal record in the 800m run with a mark of 1:56.13.

In field events for the Bulldogs, Charlie Hatler took fourth in the javelin with a mark of 178-2. Derrick Freeland placed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 166-8. Jordan Williams took the number four spot in the long jump with a mark of 6.41m. Freshman Harrison Mansell bested his personal best in the high jump with a mark of 1.86m. Lindsay Pierce set a new PR after placing second in the pole vault, also notching his name eighth in the all-time school record book.

For the women, Joie Royer earned the number-five spot at the meet in the 400m run with a time of 58.5.Â

In the field, Mady Riegel finished in the top three for the second-consecutive meet in the javelin throw with a mark of 42.12m (138-2). Jessy Page took fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 164-2 and also placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 134-3.Â

The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia in two weeks on Saturday, April 21 to participate in the USC Open.
