UTC Volleyball Sweeps The Citadel

Chattanooga, TN - The Lady Mocs volleyball team hit a season-high .429 at the net and snapped a seven-game skid with a rousing three-gamevictory over The Citadel Saturday afternoon at Maclellan Gym 30-15, 30-14, 30-24.

Jody Steinberger connected on 21 kills and hit .515, plus she added ninedigs for her best all-around game of the season. Kari Krouse added 12kills on a .435 hitting average, plus she picked up 10 digs and three serviceaces.

Jessica Woodby had 42 assists and nine digs, while Lindsey Gallowayadded eight digs for UTC (5-15 overall, 2-8 SoCon).

Steinberger had seven kills and Woodby 15 assists in the first game asUTC hit .368 as a team. The Lady Mocs pounded out a .600 hitting average inthe second game behind seven kills from Steinberger, six from Kelly Ramsayand five from Krouse, plus Krouse and Julie Buck both had two service aces.

In game three, Steinberger again led the way with seven kills and Woodbypicked up 17 assists.

The Citadel (5-12, 0-8) was led by Nicole Mantu with 11 kills and eightdigs, while Desiree Browning had 28 assists. Amber Davis and LindseyHodge both had a pair of aces.

The Lady Mocs continue their longest home stand of the season and host Appalachian State on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. and then entertain East Tennessee State Saturday at 2 o'clock at Maclellan Gym.

The Bulldogs continue on to Western Carolina to compete this afternoon.
